Transform grocery with Capgemini’s Industry Cloud for Grocers on Google Cloud

Deliver memorable end-to-end seamless experiences driven by Gen AI by combining the power of technologies.

The grocery sector is facing major headwinds. Companies need to deliver a great customer experience while having greater inventory visibility and profitability, and effectively managing fulfillment across all channels. And the sector wants to meet sustainability targets and increase margins by reducing overall food waste. It is a big ask.

Consumers are embracing the Gen AI-managed experience. According to a Capgemini Research Institute report, 66 percent of consumers surveyed said they are open to purchasing new products or services recommended by Gen AI and 55 percent said Gen AI technology enhanced their shopping experience.

Capgemini’s Industry Cloud for Grocers on Google Cloud delivers a connected grocery solution to help the sector transform challenges into opportunities. The magic is in the connected experience. From the moment customers walk into a store, they start interacting with smart carts that leverage Google computer vision models and custom software to enable a frictionless experience.

Google Cloud’s fully-managed, AI-ready analytics platform maximizes the value of data and is designed to be multi-engine, multi-format, and multi-cloud, so grocers can leverage the power of their information and customer interactions. This includes digital AI assistants, AI-powered dynamic pricing, and smarter forecasting and replenishment.

Working with Google Cloud, SAP, and other ecosystem partners, Capgemini’s connected grocery solution fundamentally allows grocery stores to offer a true omnichannel experience that satisfies both customers and the bottom line.

This is the future of retail – made possible today by Capgemini, Google, SAP, and our ecosystem partners.

Utilizing Google’s Cloud AI product suite, Casey can help customers find products, give personalized recommendations, or highlight ongoing promotions. Connected to a product catalog, Casey is grounded in data to deliver a hyper-personalized in-store experience. Personalization across all interactions elevates the experience and raises customer lifetime value.

Retailers can identify expiring products and create promotions that are pushed to a smart cart to gamify the experience and drive sales. Retailers can also use Casey to offer deals to help reduce grocery bills, decrease costs, and support sustainability goals around food waste.

Demand forecasting can be more dynamic. The solution uses Google’s Cortex framework to help grocers deal with real-time inventory management requirements by leveraging demand sensing and smart forecasting based on historical sales data in Google BigQuery.

Grocers can use Capgemini’s ICA to speed the cloud transition and move data seamlessly between systems. The headless API system has a catalog of microservices to provide an extraction layer to make sure the data moves between systems.

Connected commerce in retail, consumer products and services

Digital channels remain the fastest-growing global channel for consumer products companies, outpacing others by a rate of three or more.
