“It’s a culture of working very hard, keeping a good sense of humor, staying focused on the outcome…and having some fun at the end of the day.”

What does your average day look like?

In my role I’m responsible for all of the bookings that we do with clients and our go-to-market, which is really how we present ourselves to the marketplace, whether that be through our frontline folks, analyst groups, our client meetings, interactions with our technology partners, etc. So an average day for me could include working with my team on client pursuits, client meetings, internal meetings and leadership meetings to talk about where we are in terms of our pipeline and new solutions, it’s really a lot of different things. It’s a lot of relationship-building, not only with our clients but also within Capgemini, with our partners, and with analyst groups.

What’s the best thing about working at Capgemini?

This is probably a really predictable answer, but it’s usually the people that you enjoy working with. I really enjoy the people and the culture at Capgemini – the culture is very entrepreneurial, it’s a very hard-working team. We work very hard, but there’s always a good sense of humor, this pulling together as a team means that having the success at the end of that hard work is really great. It’s a culture of working very hard, keeping a good sense of humor, staying focused on the outcome that we all want to happen, and having some fun at the end of the day.

I think there’s a connection with the Values of the company and how they come to life. We start every presentation with a new client with our 7 Values, because we always look at “what are the client’s values and is there any overlap?”. It’s interesting to start there as it sets the tone that this is really important to us, and these are not just things that we put on the wall – this is really how we behave and interact with each other as well as with our clients.

What makes you proud to work at Capgemini?

I really think it’s our Values and seeing those Values put in action. I think that Capgemini is honest about where it needs to improve, and takes earnest action to improve in those areas. I am really proud of not only our CSR but also what we do around Digital Inclusion, how technology is an enabler for equality and humanity and all of that. That’s something that, in addition to the Values, I can really latch onto, I haven’t worked with a lot of companies where I can really emotionally connect to their mission or vision. I’ve seen a number of things put in action around this at Capgemini, which also makes me very proud because it demonstrates that it isn’t just words, we’re actually going to do something. It’s similar to our Values – we’re not just going to say that we have these Values, we’re actually going to do things that reinforce them.

How are you working towards the future you want?

That’s a good question. So many things come to mind, I have people in my team who are putting this in action right now. Capgemini, as I said, is a very entrepreneurial type of organization – if you raise your hand and say “I think there’s a better way to do this and I want to do it this way”, people will say “that’s great, let’s give it a try”. So it’s a very empowering and enabling organization as well, and that holds true for new steps that you want to take in your career – raising your hand for a new challenge or because you want to take your career in a new direction. It’s hard for me to think of an example where there hasn’t been an earnest effort by leadership and teams to make that happen.

What advice would you give to someone joining Capgemini?

The number one advice I have for people joining Capgemini, and this is what I did when I joined, is to just start reaching out to people. People will be friendly, so it’s up to you to reach out, introduce yourself, your role, and ask questions. The other piece of advice I have is that you just have to jump in and start doing. Capgemini rewards action, and I think the more that you jump in and start doing, the more people will think, “this person is going to be really good.” Even if you’re not doing exactly the right things off the bat, people at Capgemini appreciate the action, the energy, the spirit of “I’m going to jump in, roll my sleeves up and go at it.”
