Many of us will experience difficult personal circumstances at some point in life: if and when this happens, we want to ensure our people and their families have access to the right support from Capgemini.

With this in mind, we have significantly refreshed our approach and guidance around our Family Friendly policies, which are for all employees, regardless of length of service.

One of our recent updates was to incorporate Bereavement Leave as a stand-alone policy into our Compassionate Leave approach.

What is Compassionate Leave?

Compassionate leave is when you need time off to deal with challenging personal circumstances. This applies to serious situations, which may include:

  • When a close friend or loved one is taken seriously ill or is critically injured
  • If you have been subject to a crime
  • If you have been the victim of, or witness to, a disturbing event
  • To attend a funeral for a family member or close friend.

What is Bereavement Leave?

Bereavement Leave is when you need time to deal with the death of a loved one or family member. At Capgemini we understand that the support needed will vary and that this can be an extremely difficult time. In addition, if you suffer the loss of a child under the age of 18 you are entitled to Parental Bereavement Leave. This Parental Bereavement Leave goes beyond the statutory limits, as Capgemini is committed to supporting employees through this time.

How is Capgemini supporting employees?

We’re committed to supporting all employees who are dealing with unforeseen matters and emergencies. We know these situations can affect people in different ways, so we want to provide the right support to everyone. The key support for all employees is:

  • Up to 10 days paid compassionate leave
  • 10 days paid bereavement leave
  • 10 days paid parental bereavement leave which can be taken as a single block of one or two weeks, or two separate blocks of one week at different times.
  • Continuing to accrue holiday at their contractual entitlement rate.

In addition to these policies, we have a number of well-being resources and inclusive employee networks on hand to support our colleagues.
