Volkmar Varnhagen was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Capgemini Engineering in January 2023. He joined Capgemini Group’s Executive Committee in July 2023.
 
In his role, he is responsible for overseeing and optimizing overall operations, ensuring cross-functional and regional collaboration, enhancing operational efficiency and driving strategic initiatives to achieve growth as well as fostering the sustainability agenda to reach Net Zero.
Prior to this, from 2021 Volkmar was Managing Director of Capgemini Invent, the digital innovation, consulting and transformation brand of the Capgemini Group, in Northern & Central Europe.

From 2018 to 2020, he was Managing Director of Capgemini Invent in Europe and APAC regions. Over the past 22 years, he has held multiple leadership positions in consulting at Capgemini Invent and led global programs for renowned global players mainly within the automotive and manufacturing industry. Volkmar has strong business expertise in the areas of strategy and organization, large business and digital transformation programs, digital disruption, operational excellence, and data analytics.
 
Volkmar joined Capgemini in 2000.
 
Volkmar studied Mechanical Engineering as well as Economics and holds a PhD in Production Engineering from the Aachen University of Technology (Germany).
