– Tell us about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?

I am a data engineer currently with Insights & Data. My role as a data engineer is fun yet challenges me. Daily, I work with different activities using huge volumes of data, such as data cleansing, pre-processing data before it reaches the data warehouses, data processing and curation, data analysis, and developing/releasing curated data to dashboards for reporting and visualizations.  

– What’s the best thing about working at Capgemini?

Capgemini gives me exposure to various industries and an understanding of use cases that clients build on in data-related areas within their organizations. Furthermore, Capgemini also gives me creative ways to upskill in the areas I need to build on.

– What makes you proud to work at Capgemini?

Knowing with confidence that I can work with different clients and get exposure to various industry experts to gain knowledge and become a skilled changemaker – this clearly makes Capgemini exceptional!

– How are you working towards the future you want?

In an ever-growing field of work, it is important to upskill myself continuously. I have been taking partner-related courses as well as catching up on white papers to get a deeper understanding of various topics, like generative AI, which is racing up with speed. With a wonderful I&D team, I speak to my peers to understand the different opportunities they are working on to understand better the kind of use cases clients are looking for.

– What advice would you give to someone joining Capgemini?

For those people who are new and want to start a career in a data-related field, it is crucial to start by learning and mastering one programming language (Python or SQL, preferably), one cloud technology (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and, most importantly, to have an ever-ready attitude to learn and take on new challenges!
