– How do you feel in the morning getting up and going to work at Capgemini?

As I was growing up, I hated the thought of going to work in a job I didn’t like. And now, the thought doesn’t even cross my mind. While I have to fulfil my responsibilities on client projects, I want the freedom to do what gets me going. With a company like Capgemini supporting me, I have the opportunity to sculpt my career in the way that I want.

– What do you love about your job?

Becoming a software developer and looking for variation in your work are not always compatible. Consultancy, for me, was the answer to that. I meet different people in new environments and work with new technologies every day. It keeps me interested and motivated. Meeting so many different people also means you are constantly learning. It is this networking and learning that makes me love what I do.

– How does Capgemini empower you to master your skills?

During the last three years at Capgemini, I have had a newfound enthusiasm for the leadership aspect of my work. I enjoy being a facilitator. I am motivated by seeing others enjoy their work. I didn’t know I had that within me, but it has blossomed through the soft skills training that Capgemini excels at, and the constant support and coaching from my reviewer and team leaders who are always ready to invest in an employee’s capabilities.

– How does Capgemini help support your sense of purpose in your career?

I’ve been lucky in that I have the right people around me to encourage me to grow, the team I work with is a group of driven, intelligent individuals. If you are willing to make connections within the organization itself, the opportunities become clear, and it’s up to you to take them.

– How does Capgemini give you the autonomy to make decisions?

Capgemini promotes diversity more than any other organization I know. We value everyone and try to recognize and appreciate what they have to offer. Because of this attitude across the whole company, I can be myself. It encourages me to self-reflect, and ask, “What can I bring to the table?”Thus, I am an advocate of authenticity in the workplace – “Bring your whole self to work.” Here you really can – and this is the best autonomy you can have.

– What do you love about the way of working at Capgemini?

Capgemini breaks the mould when it comes to consultancy. Everyone is willing to help each other, be it for technical knowledge, career advice, coaching, mentoring or even something personal. Because of the size of the company, sometimes it can be hard to find what you need, but it’s out there. Ask the question, “Do you know how I can…?” There will be someone who can help, and if there isn’t, well there is an opportunity for you.

– How does this all combine for you to have passion for what you do?

This makes me feel like I have found my calling – I have the foundation on which I can take my career in a direction of my choice. If I can work on the things that matter to me, I will enjoy it. If I enjoy it, I will excel at it. If I excel at it, then I will grow. Isn’t that what we all want – to better ourselves?

– What was the most memorable moment in your Capgemini journey?

Being accepted onto the Future Leaders Program has most definitely been the highlight of my Capgemini journey so far, along with the residential module at the corporate university in Les Fontaines. It solidified my belief that the company is willing to invest in you if you work hard and show potential.
