Tell us a bit about your pre-Relaunch working career. What were your adventures before joining us?  

Completed a business degree and worked for 20 years in a variety of Marketing roles in leading FMCG companies – Procter and Gamble (Australia and UK) and Lion (Australia) 

What sparked your interest in returning to a career in Tech? We’d love to hear about the magic that drew you back!  

I was looking into returning to work in Marketing roles and wasn’t seeing anything on offer that felt like a challenge or allowed me to learn and grow. I heard about the Relaunch Program through a friend, and I was hesitant as I have no tech background. But after looking into the program, I thought it was something I could tackle, and it would allow me to diversify and progress my career. 

What made the Relaunch Program so intriguing that you couldn’t resist applying? Share with us what caught your attention.  

I was inspired by the fundamental goal of the program – supporting women returning to the workplace. Recognising the valuable skills that women returning to work have and supporting the return to work through a dedicated program that upskilled and transitioned women back into the workforce.  

How has the Relaunch Program opened doors and provided you with exciting opportunities? We can’t wait to hear about your accomplishments!  

A few years ago, I would never have believed that I would have employment in the tech industry. I have completed just over 12 months at Capgemini and have been on 2 phases of a fascinating project in a functional analyst role. This is a new role for me, and I have learnt a lot in a short time, and just 12 months in, I feel like a valuable team player. 

Finally, what advice would you give to women looking to rejoin or kickstart their career in Tech?  

Your wisdom can inspire many aspiring tech-savvy individuals! Diversity of experience is highly valued and can add value to any project team. Don’t let a lack of tech experience hold you back. The program helps you build the skills you need to get started and then learn as you go
